The Mustang Motorsport Saleen Extreme Mustang has been 'transformed' into a replica of Barricade, the Decepticon hunter from the Transformers movie, currently showing in cinemas. The crew at Mustang Motorsport have been working feverishly to transform the black Saleen S281 Extreme into the Transformers replica, ready to compete at the final Dutton Rally for 2007.
Craig Dean (driver) and John MacKenzie (co-driver) will be competing this weekend at the DECA Training Ground in Shepparton, Victoria, and the SPC Car Park on Saturday, then at Essendon Airport and Sandown Raceway on Sunday.
Craig Dean said, "The car has raised many eyebrows and received plenty of attention since receiving its makeover. It's a great way to finish off the Dutton Rally for 2007 - lots of fun mixed with very serious performance!"
The vehicle itself is a great example of what Mustang Motorsport can do with the new Mustang. The race vehicle actually started its life as a standard Mustang GT coupe, before being adorned with the entire Saleen Extreme exterior body kit, as well as receiving all the performance modifications to take it to full Saleen S281 Extreme specification.
Engine upgrades include the addition of the Saleen twin-screw supercharger as well as full Saleen Extreme-spec internal modifications, bringing the power output up to 411kw and torque to 677nm. The Saleen quick-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and Mini-Lite inspired 19" wheels help put all the power to the ground.
