The heart of the Mustang Shelby GT500 is a 5.2L supercharged cross-plane crankshaft V8 pumping out 760hp (567kw) and 625lb-ft (847nm) torque. It is matched to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission which can change gears in less than 100 milliseconds to ensure all the power is delivered smoothly and continuously to the road or track. Launch control (for track use only) delivers mid-3.0 second 0-60mph times, while five easily selectable drive modes - Normal, Weather, Sport, Drag, Track - make driving a pleasure anywhere, any time.
Performance aerodynamics have been developed from the Ford GT LeMans and Mustang GT4 racing programs, and keep the GT500 stuck firmly to the road or track. The large angular grille openings and muscular hood combine for a menacing, aerodynamic-led design inspired by modern fighter jet aircraft.
The car’s wider front fenders and stance house Shelby GT500-specific 20x11-inch (front) and 20x11.5-inch (rear) wheels which are wrapped in custom Ford Performance-spec Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. The massive 16.5-inch two-piece SHW front brake rotors and 6-piston Brembo calipers are the largest of any American sports coupe. Next-gen active MagneRide suspension is coupled with chassis refinements resulting in improved steering dynamics, reduced weight and added strength.
