Australia Welcomes Its First-Ever Mustang GTD

Australia is set to receive its very first Ford Mustang GTD, marking a significant milestone for performance motoring in the region. Craig Dean, founder of Mustang Motorsport and Crossover Car Conversions, has been selected as one of the exclusive global owners following Ford’s highly competitive application process.

Prospective owners were required to complete a detailed submission and provide a personal interview outlining their passion for the brand and intended use of the vehicle. Craig Dean’s successful application secured him a place among an elite group entrusted with one of the most advanced Mustangs ever produced.

Following acceptance, Craig worked closely with his dedicated Ford concierge to configure his vehicle. After careful consideration, he selected a striking Lightning Blue exterior paired with the exposed carbon fibre package, a combination that highlights the GTD’s aggressive design and motorsport DNA. The vehicle is also equipped with the Performance Package, featuring advanced active aerodynamics with an adjustable rear wing and front aero elements designed to maximise downforce and deliver optimal performance on the racetrack.

Beneath its sculpted carbon fibre bodywork, the Mustang GTD is powered by a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine producing in excess of 800 horsepower. This immense power is paired with a rear-mounted 8-speed dual-clutch transaxle, contributing to a near-perfect weight distribution and enhancing overall balance and handling. The GTD’s motorsport-derived chassis features a sophisticated suspension system, including a pushrod rear setup, while carbon ceramic brakes provide exceptional stopping performance under extreme conditions. Inside, the cockpit is purpose-built with a driver-focused layout, reinforcing its track-ready intent.

Craig travelled from Australia to the United States last week to take delivery of the vehicle at South Bay Ford. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the dealership team along with Ford representatives and media crews documenting the occasion. As the transporter arrived and the car was revealed, the excitement quickly reached its peak.

“What a sharp, stunning machine — I absolutely love it,” said Dean. “Where’s the racetrack? I can’t wait to drive it.”

He also extended his appreciation to the teams involved in bringing the experience to life, including Ford, Multimatic, and the South Bay Ford staff, acknowledging their professionalism and enthusiasm throughout the handover process.

With delivery now complete, anticipation builds as the vehicle prepares to make its journey to Australia, where it will become the first Mustang GTD on local soil.
