2020-2022 Shelby GT500KR

The King of the Road is back! Based on the world class Ford Shelby GT500, the 2020-2022 KR boasts 900+ horsepower, carbon fibre body pieces, forged aluminium wheels, upgraded suspension, interior and more. The GT500KR is extremely limited, only 60 per model year (180 total) will be available in the US and internationally.

This is only the third time in history that a version of the Shelby GT500 has carried the “King of the Road” name. The first time was in 1968 when the Shelby GT500KR was powered by the new 428 Cobra Jet V-8 that was conservatively rated at 335 horsepower. It was equipped with a modified suspension, redesigned front and rear end, custom fiberglass hood and Cougar taillights. Ford dealers sold 1,570 GT500KR Mustangs in 1968 (1053 fastbacks and 517 convertibles).

2008 marked the return of the Shelby GT500KR. Its supercharged V-8 produced 540 horsepower and also included a short-throw shifter, 3.73:1 rear axle and unique wheels, tires and suspension settings. A special composite hood with push button hood pins, unique stripes and badges distinguished the KR. A total of 1,000 cars were produced in 2008 and an additional 712 cars for 2009.

SUPERCHARGER

Working closely with our partners from Whipple superchargers, an all new massive 3.8L supercharger was developed for the GT500 platform! The new supercharger boosts the capable 5.2-liter V8 to over 900 horsepower on 93 octane. The twin screw supercharger system is equipped with a larger throttle body, cold air intake, updated pulley system and innovated dual core dual pass intercooler.

WHEELS

Wheels stand out, are immediately identifiable and can sometimes make a look for a vehicle. The 2008-09 GT500KR wore iconic wheels. Any Mustang or performance car enthusiast saw those wheels and thought "Shelby". The Shelby team and partners worked diligently on a modern predecessor to those wheels befitting of the original. The stunning wheel captures everything about the original with a modern flair, while still improving on performance aspects. Built with lightweight, strong, one-piece 6061-T6 forged aluminum, the KR wheel is available in a brushed aluminum or gloss black finish.

HOOD

Sitting on the nose of the GT500KR is a light-weight dry carbon fiber hood. Similar to the hood developed for the 2008-09 KR, the carbon fiber hood is fully functional and focuses on cooling the supercharged engine bay. Working with the team at Ford, the added side vents are located strategically to pull heat off of the exhaust manifold helping prevent heat soak maintaining optimum power. The vents are also water managed, with removable rain trays.

Shelby GT500KR Package price is additional to the estimated base vehicle price for the 2020-22 SHELBY GT500 of AUD$250,000-$360,000.

Vehicles are sourced through our dealer networks and personal contacts in the US, imported and converted in conjunction with our founding company Crossover Car Conversions, which have been performing highest quality right hand drive conversions since 1990. The vehicle is then upgraded by Mustang Motorsport to Shelby GT500KR specifications.
Although we aim to process vehicles as quickly and efficiently as possible, timeline from order to completion can often be up to 6 months.
